53 Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore is part of the twentysomething pop-star crowd, but she has been in the business since she was a teenager. Although her music made her the celebrity that she is today, she has also managed to forge a successful acting career. Mandy has appeared in many successful movies, including The Princess Diaries (2001) alongside Anne Hathaway and A Walk to Remember (2002) with Daryl Hannah. We’ve also seen her in high-profile relationships with tennis player Andy Roddick, Zach Braff of Scrubs and Wilmer Valderrama of That ‘70s Show.

Mandy was quite busy in 2006. She starred in American Dreamz alongside Hugh Grant, in Southland Tales with Sarah Michelle Gellar and in episodes of Scrubs. She also lent her voice to characters in The Simpsons and Brother Bear 2. All this visibility helped her move up from No. 58 on our 2006 list, although that had been a drop from her No. 40 position on the 2005 edition. On a personal front, she broke up with Zach Braff after almost two years of dating, but in early 2007, she was linked with Nicole Richie’s ex, Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein.

Mandy Moore has four films set for release in 2007: Dedication with Billy Crudup, Because I Said So with Diane Keaton, License to Wed alongside Robin Williams, and the thriller Twist of Fate. As if that weren’t enough, she will release her first album in four years, Wild Hope, which will feature collaborations with many high-profile artists, including Chantal Kreviazuk and Michelle Branch. We wouldn’t be surprised to see Mandy’s star rise even further in 2007, which may also land her a higher position on the 2008 edition of the Top 99 Women list.
