32 Salma Hayek

Having appeared in more than 40 films and television shows during her famed career, Salma Hayek has long-since established herself as one of the most alluring and flat-out irresistible actresses of her generation. Salma’s big break came in 1995, when fledgling filmmaker Robert Rodriguez cast her opposite Antonio Banderas in Desperado, a high-octane thriller that transformed the actress into an overnight sensation. Salma went on to appear in hits such as 1996’s From Dusk Till Dawn, 1998’s The Faculty and 2000’s Traffic, and she earned an Academy Award nomination for her stunning work as the title character in 2002’s Frida.

2006 turned out to be a fairly lucrative year for Salma, as her first endeavor within the world of television production turned out to be extremely rewarding. Salma was instrumental in bringing the surprise hit Ugly Betty to the small screen, and there’s little doubt that the show owes more than a bit of its success to Salma’s recurring role as a saucy editor. Salma also appeared opposite Colin Farrell in the Depression-era tale Ask the Dust, and consequently landed a No. 1 spot on Mr. Skin’s list of the most memorable nude scenes of the year. Salma’s continued presence on this list speaks highly of her enduring popularity, and she’s that rare sex symbol whose appeal seems to increase as she ages.

Salma kicked off 2007 with the straight-to-video release of Bandidas, a film in which she and costar Penelope Cruz cause all kinds of havoc in the Wild West. Another early 2007 release, Lonely Hearts, put Salma opposite John Travolta, in a true story about a pair of killers who trolled for victims in the personals. Finally, Salma will be seen in Keep Coming Back, a drama directed and costarring William H. Macy. And, of course, expect to see more of Salma on Ugly Betty; particularly now that the show has won a Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy.
