35 Christina Aguilera

Christina’s distinctive, powerful vocals helped put her on the musical map way back in 1999, with the release of her first bubble-gum pop album, Christina Aguilera. After winning the Best New Artist Grammy in 2000, Christina has been a permanent staple on the Billboard charts with her work on 2002’s "Lady Marmalade," as well as her follow-up albums Stripped (2002) and Back to Basics (2006).

Although absent from last year’s Top 99 list, Christina Aguilera reemerged in 2006 a newly married woman and a matured singer/songwriter worthy of this year’s No. 35 spot. Not only did 2006 mark the release of her wildly successful third album, Back to Basics, but she also appeared in a few ad campaigns, including one for Pepsi that aired during the 2006 World Cup. Eager to show off her softer, more mature look since prancing around in chaps in her “Dirrty” video in 2002, Christina posed nude for a tasteful Marilyn Monroe-like spread in GQ’s May 2006 issue.

Christina will spend most of 2007 on her Back to Basics world tour. The 41-date tour starts in February in Houston and ends in May in Florida. Christina is also planning on kicking off a bunch of jazz club tour dates where she will belt out tunes in a more intimate setting. She is also taking the cosmetics world by storm, teaming up with Procter & Gamble Prestige Products to create her own fragrance line.
