78 Mallika Sherawat

Although Mallika Sherawat is not exactly a household name in America, she has steadily amassed a loyal and devoted following in her homeland of India. Mallika’s level of fame increased exponentially in 2003, when she delivered a sultry and thoroughly risque performance in the Bollywood hit Khwahish. In 2004, Mallika received a Zee Cine Award nomination for Best Actress for her role in Murder. It is also rumored that she was the first Indian woman to have been offered a spread within the pages of Playboy. Unfortunately, it is reported that she denied the offer based on morals and upbringing.

As is generally the case with performers working within the Bollywood system, Mallika receives very little downtime between films and seems to pop up in a new production on a monthly basis. 2006 was certainly no exception to this rule; Mallika appeared in Shaadi Se Pehle, Darna Zaroori Hai and Pyaar Ke Side Effects throughout the course of the year. Mallika’s increasing profile along with her degree in philosophy from Delhi University and her curvaceous assets have certainly played a key role in landing her a debut position on AskMen.com’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women list. It’s undoubtedly just a matter of time before she becomes as well-known in North America as she is in India.

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that the desirable and talented Mallika has four films scheduled for release in 2007, though the chances of any of them hitting the big screen in North American are slim. The most promising film in the bunch is undoubtedly Guru, which pairs the actress with legendary Bollywood queen Aishwarya Rai for the first time. Mallika’s fans can also expect to see her in three comedies: Fauj Mein Mauj, Welcome and Dasavatharam.
