80 Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway has the classic movie star type of name and the classic movie star beauty to match. She burst onto the scene in 2001 with her star-making performance in the box-office smash The Princess Diaries. She followed that up with appearances in such family-friendly movies as 2002’s Nicholas Nickleby and 2004’s Ella Enchanted, and subsequently shattered that image with a risqué and distinctly R-rated performance in 2005’s Havoc. Anne has also lent her voice to a pair of feature-length animations, 2002’s The Cat Returns and 2005’s Hoodwinked! Her performance in 2005’s Brokeback Mountain proved that she’s more than just a pretty face and solidified her status as a serious actress.

2006 marked Anne’s first stab at a leading role outside the realms of a family-friendly Disney flick. The result was The Devil Wears Prada, one of the most critically and financially successful romantic comedies of the year. In fact, Anne dominated the screen whenever she appeared beside Hollywood heavyweight Meryl Streep or any of her up-and-coming costars, such as Adrian Grenier, Simon Baker and Emily Blunt. This is Anne’s debut on AskMen.com’s Top 99, and as long as she stays away from kid flicks and sticks with more palatable roles, we’re sure she’ll be around for years to come.

Anne has two films slated for 2007, including an upcoming role in Becoming Jane, which has her portraying the legendary writer Jane Austen. There’s already been some controversy swirling about the casting of an American in the central role, but if anyone can win over the naysayers, it’s Anne. She’ll also be working on the John Cukor remake of the 1939 film The Women, about a woman who leaves her cheating husband. Anne will contribute to the film adaptation of the much-loved TV series Get Smart, and she’ll lead the cast in the drama Passengers.
